5 reasons you should attend APHA’s European Education Summit

When it comes to success in today’s highly competitive show ring, it takes more than a talented Paint Horse and hours of training to win. It takes a thorough understanding of the APHA Rule Book and what the judges are looking for to be your best self. No one and no horse is perfect, but the thinking horseman can use that knowledge to gain a competitive edge.

Education is the key to success. That is why the APHA completely revamped and reformulated the former European Judges Seminar into a bigger and better opportunity to learn—the European Education Summit sponsored by APHA and the Deutsche Quarter Horse Association and approved by AQHA, ApHC and NSBA. Whether you are an exhibitor, trainer, aspiring or carded judge, show manager or secretary, there’s something for everyone at this event taking place March 15-18, 2018, near Frankfurt, Germany.

Here are our top five reasons why you should attend the European Education Summit before the show season swings into full gear.

  1. Exhibitors can improve their performances through top-notch education.

All APHA members, no matter their level of experience as exhibitors, are invited to attend the March 15-16 Horse Show Education Seminar. Two of the industry’s finest instructors—APHA Director of Judges David Dellin and AQHA Senior Director of Judges Patti Carter—will cover halter, showmanship, Western pleasure, hunter under saddle, Western horsemanship, hunt seat equitation, trail, Western riding, reining and ranch horse classes.

  1. Trainers can better prepare horses and clients for today’s competitive show ring.

This is an excellent opportunity for professional horsemen to keep with the latest rules and trends in industry, especially if they are exhibiting in multiple associations. With the level of competition constantly increasing and rules continually evolving, this event makes it easy keep up with the latest standards and get answers directly from industry leaders.

  1. Aspiring judges can prepare for and take the judge applicant test.

Becoming an APHA-approved judge is a stringent process, designed to award judging cards to only the most qualified applicants. We strive to develop high-quality judges who are able to precisely evaluate and rank entries in a variety of classes, in keeping with rules set forth by the association. 1. Carded judges can fulfill their continuing education requirement.

All APHA European judges are required to attend an APHA-approved seminar once every two years. Attendance at the March 15-16 seminar counts toward recertification and is an excellent way to prepare for your 2018 judging assignments.

  1. Show managers and secretaries can become dual-approved by APHA and AQHA.

New for 2018, attend the Show Management Seminar on March 17-18 and become approved by both APHA and AQHA as a show manager/secretary. Learn the requirements and responsibilities for organizing an AQHA or APHA-approved show. Get new ideas to attract new exhibitors and keep regular customers coming back for more. Gain the skills and know-how to run a well-managed event.

Registration fees are 200 for the March 15-16 Horse Show Education Seminar, 100 for the March 17 Judge Applicant Testing, and 200 for the March 17–18 Show Management Seminar. Register on or before February 19 and save 25per session.
